Some Tidbits of other News

California tomato growers are beginning to see the impact of July's heat wave. Farmers indicate that tomato skins cracked from the heat, which worsened mold problems. Olives and Oils and Fruits Overview

August is a tough month for gathering much information. People are not where you expect them and it takes time to confirm things.

nonetheless, it does appear that the Olive Crop is early and we shall see some early productions (end of September) with shipments of Ripe Olives by mid October) at (in Euros) slightly lower prices. Oil prices too should be coming down...

The lack of water is a concern for the yields in the fruit and in the oil.

Spot deals in both Green and Ripes makes little sense now. Don't buy on import spot unless absolutely necessary!

Peaches and Fruits in California are reported short. Imported requests are climbing. Quality from California suffered with this year's hot weather preceded by all that rain.

We hope to have cleared indications on all this by the beginning of September.
