Hello to all and welcome to the Newest Year 2007!
To catch up with some of my lack of news, it looks as if RIPE OLIVES are shorter than expected and the demand has remained high. I have heard that the imbalance is roughly 30% less than what was available this time last year.
I have the chance to book a few more containers thanks to our solid relationships but quantities are short and this season will see higher prices as predicted...
Green Olives are following along at higher prices with strong demand as well. Look for increases along the coming weeks. Also be aware that many people are definitely looking to alternative sources and quality inconsistencies will be a problem this year. I hear that some Peruvian Queens are coming soon to the market... (This is despite the fact that there is no such thing!)
SAFFRON has gone up beyond the 25% increase forecasted... We are looking at shortages from source countries and price increases of about 35% along the coming weeks...
And with all things, the price goes up and then the quality goes down... Why? Because the higher return prompts unscrupulous producers to sweep the corners of the production room for every little bit... We continue to guarantee our qualities... But watch out for short filaments, off color, straw and other tricks!
Sorry for the delay in posts... I will try to keep a better string coming but if you have any questions, feel free to call or e-mail!
